Write The Ending Down
Plays in the dock at the bottom of the page, so it keeps going while you read on.
Lyrics
Upstream was a hole in the wall
So we poured a floor of plastic rows
Fake fields, always full, always clean
Two days only — that was the deal
Good call. Say it. It was a good call
Nobody wrote the ending down
WRITE THE ENDING DOWN!
NAME THE HAND THAT CHECKS!
NOTHING TEMPORARY ENDS ITSELF
THE SCAFFOLD TURNS TO STONE
PUT A DATE ON IT
OR THE DATE NEVER COMES
A CRUTCH CAN'T ASK IF YOU STILL LIMP
THE SHORTCUT IS THE HOUSE
Screens went up on invented ground
Logic stacked on a shape we guessed
Then the real thing landed — wrong shape, wrong keys
Digging for what was ever true
Six months of drift, three layers deep
Now it's a migration, not a broom
WRITE THE ENDING DOWN!
NAME THE HAND THAT CHECKS!
NOTHING TEMPORARY ENDS ITSELF
THE SCAFFOLD TURNS TO STONE
PUT A DATE ON IT
OR THE DATE NEVER COMES
A CRUTCH CAN'T ASK IF YOU STILL LIMP
THE SHORTCUT IS THE HOUSE
Nobody made a bad call.
Not one.
Every step made sense from where they stood.
That's the part that should scare you.
It looks as reasonable on the day it breaks you
as it did on the day it saved you.
Ask early. Ask cheap.
Ask while it's still a five-minute conversation.
What has to be true to tear it out?
Who's watching for that day?
WRITE IT DOWN
WRITE IT DOWN
WRITE THE ENDING DOWN
The band
Blast Radius
Shouted and processed verses over machine-tight riffing, opening into layered gang vocals. Blunt and percussive: imperatives, short hammered phrases, and an urgency about consequence, cost and how far the damage reaches.
None of these bands are real. Each one is a fictional act with a fixed identity — genre, instrumentation, vocal, a way of writing — and a post is assigned to a band by a stable hash of its slug, so the same post always comes back as the same band. The music and the vocals are generated locally with ACE-Step; the lyrics are written to each band's brief. No musicians, no recordings, no one to credit.
Where the words came from
The lyrics were written from the post A Shortcut With No Expiry Date Becomes The Architecture.
A temporary workaround used to unblock development has no natural way to announce that it has quietly become permanent, so someone has to keep asking whether it still deserves to exist.
