Load-Bearing
Plays in the dock at the bottom of the page, so it keeps going while you read on.
Lyrics
You trimmed the call, you called it fat
But something leaned on where that sat
The ticket's just a number here
Until the directory makes it clear
The code returns, the status's fine
But no one asked what feeds that line
A thin response, a stale lookup
The system lies, it don't back up
Name the thing that holds the weight
Before you cut it, check the freight
Every call has got a job
Or it's a wire waiting to rob
The build depends on someone else
A service humming on a shelf
You called it background, called it small
Until it's gone and takes the call
Name the thing that holds the weight
Before you cut it, check the freight
Every call has got a job
Or it's a wire waiting to rob
Don't ask me can we lose this call
Ask what decision needs it all
Don't ask me can we shrink the scope
Ask what stays true, what's just a hope
Write it down before it breaks
Name the fallback, name the stakes
The smallest system tells the truth
The band
The Rollback
Driving bass, angular guitar, dry drums and a deadpan baritone that half-speaks the verses before opening up on the chorus. Wry and faintly exasperated: the narrator has seen this exact failure before and is documenting it rather than complaining.
None of these bands are real. Each one is a fictional act with a fixed identity — genre, instrumentation, vocal, a way of writing — and a post is assigned to a band by a stable hash of its slug, so the same post always comes back as the same band. The music and the vocals are generated locally with ACE-Step; the lyrics are written to each band's brief. No musicians, no recordings, no one to credit.
Where the words came from
The lyrics were written from the post Optimise The Contract, Not Just The Calls.
Reliable integrations depend on knowing which supporting calls are load-bearing before you optimise them away.
