Lyrics
You wrote it clean, you wrote it sure
A paragraph that sounds like proof
But I've been burned by pretty pages
So I'm asking for the truth
Show me what you actually moved
It used to take as long to tell it
As it took to make it real
Now the telling costs you nothing
And the story doesn't feel
Any different from a lie
Don't tell me what you meant to build
Show me what is there
A line of forty changes
Beats a paragraph of care
I'll believe the smaller thing
The one that has to run
Not the voice that sounds so certain
Of a thing that wasn't done
What input, on what version
Gave you back that clean result
If you can't say it in one sentence
It's a feeling, not a fault
A feeling dressed in evidence
Don't tell me what you meant to build
Show me what is there
A line of forty changes
Beats a paragraph of care
I'll believe the smaller thing
The one that has to run
Not the voice that sounds so certain
Of a thing that wasn't done
Keep it small enough to read
Before you ask me to agree
What did you change, love
What did you change?
The band
Quiet Hours
A soft, precise mezzo, almost spoken in places, over not much more than a piano. Reflective and careful, fewer words than you would expect, each one deliberate - and it ends on a question rather than a conclusion.
None of these bands are real. Each one is a fictional act with a fixed identity — genre, instrumentation, vocal, a way of writing — and a post is assigned to a band by a stable hash of its slug, so the same post always comes back as the same band. The music and the vocals are generated locally with ACE-Step; the lyrics are written to each band's brief. No musicians, no recordings, no one to credit.
Where the words came from
The lyrics were written from the post The Write-Up Is Not The Change.
A pull request description can be detailed, confident and internally consistent about a change that was never actually made, so review the diff before you trust the story attached to it.
