Product Fulfilment APIs for a Major Electronics Retailer
A major electronics retailer needed APIs spanning third-party fulfilment and logistics integration, in-store/omnichannel pickup flows, and real-time stock visibility across channels.
The real constraint: cost vs revenue
The defining pressure on this project wasn't technical difficulty — it was the client's insistence on maximum revenue impact at minimum cost. That ruled out a clean-slate rebuild of the fulfilment layer, even where a fresh design would have been architecturally simpler. Instead, the approach was to extend and integrate with the retailer's existing systems, wrapping and connecting rather than replacing, so the investment went into the revenue-generating capability (omnichannel pickup, stock visibility) rather than into re-platforming infrastructure that already worked well enough.
Outcome
The result was a set of fulfilment, pickup, and stock APIs that unlocked the omnichannel capability the business wanted, delivered by building on top of the retailer's existing systems rather than around a costly replacement of them.
