Moon at Breakfastnew
Plays in the dock at the bottom of the page, so it keeps going while you read on.
Lyrics
Drew a little morning with a sun above the shed
Needed it to know the hour, grabbed the theme switch instead
The switch already said it's night, the switch already knew
Borrowed it and called it thrift, one truth for me and you
Then somebody who likes it dark opened up at nine
Moon and stars and crickets singing right on time!
Moon at breakfast! Stars on the toast!
Crickets in the cornflakes when you want the sun the most!
Want the time? Go ask the clock! (Ask the clock!)
Two little questions need two little doors!
Did the logs go red? (Not a single line!)
Did the tests go green? (Every one was fine!)
Did they check the picture did what it was told? (Yes they did!)
Did they check who told it? (Nobody did!)
A test that nods along is just a yes-man in a tie
Took a human with a coffee going "Why's the moon up high?"
Moon at breakfast! Stars on the toast!
Crickets in the cornflakes when you want the sun the most!
Want the time? Go ask the clock! (Ask the clock!)
Two little questions need two little doors!
Nobody tore the sky out, the theme still gets its night
The picture asks the clock now, a couple lines, alright
When somebody picks the dark, they're telling you who they are
Show 'em midnight at morning tea and you never heard 'em at all
Ask the clock! (Ask the clock!)
Ask the choice! (Ask the choice!)
Moon at breakfast? Not no more!
Two little questions, two little doors!
The band
The Standup
Fast, cheerful and upstroked, with a whole room shouting the hook back. Comic and rhyme-heavy, but the joke always lands on a real point, and it mocks the ritual rather than the people.
None of these bands are real. Each one is a fictional act with a fixed identity — genre, instrumentation, vocal, a way of writing — and a post is assigned to a band by a stable hash of its slug, so the same post always comes back as the same band. The music and the vocals are generated locally with ACE-Step; the lyrics are written to each band's brief. No musicians, no recordings, no one to credit.
Where the words came from
The lyrics were written from the post A Proxy Is Right Until Someone Changes Their Settings.
When one feature borrows a signal built for another purpose, it inherits every way that signal can be wrong, so it is worth asking what you actually mean and measuring that instead.
