Nobody Signed For The Details
Plays in the dock at the bottom of the page, so it keeps going while you read on.
Lyrics
Got a handshake and a date on the wall
Everybody cheering like we already won it all
Paper says it's done, paper says it's sold
But nobody wrote down what the build's gonna hold
A deal ain't a drawing, a deal ain't a plan
Somebody's gotta own it, gotta be a name not a stand
You signed it, you shipped it, you shouted it loud
Now who's gonna build it for that cheering crowd
Copy the last one, change a line or two
That's not an answer, that's a maybe wearing a suit
What about the code that don't fit in the box
Nobody's home, the silence just talks
A deal ain't a drawing, a deal ain't a plan
Somebody's gotta own it, gotta be a name not a stand
You signed it, you shipped it, you shouted it loud
Now who's gonna build it for that cheering crowd
Three weeks to the light goes green
Milestone money riding on a thing unseen
Don't tell me it's blocked, tell me who's the one
Put your name on the gap before the clock is done
A deal ain't a drawing, a deal ain't a plan
Somebody's gotta own it, gotta be a name not a stand
You signed it, you shipped it, you shouted it loud
Now who's gonna build it for that cheering crowd
Name it now, not eventually
A deal's just a dream till it's somebody's job to be free
The band
Highway to Prod
Two bars of unaccompanied riff, then the whole pub: open-chord crunch, the snare hard on two and four, and a high rasped howl that spends the chorus flat out at the top of its range. Half late-seventies bar-room stomp, half Sunset Strip sleaze, with a screaming lead break in the middle. Boasts about the reckless thing it did on purpose, and never once sounds sorry about it.
None of these bands are real. Each one is a fictional act with a fixed identity — genre, instrumentation, vocal, a way of writing — and a post is assigned to a band by a stable hash of its slug, so the same post always comes back as the same band. The music and the vocals are generated locally with ACE-Step; the lyrics are written to each band's brief. No musicians, no recordings, no one to credit.
Where the words came from
The lyrics were written from the post A Deal Is Not A Deliverable.
A signed commitment only becomes buildable once someone is accountable for turning it into requirements, and skipping that step is what actually blocks delivery, not the engineering team.
