Call It Before It's Fixed
Plays in the dock at the bottom of the page, so it keeps going while you read on.
Lyrics
Somebody saw it, somebody talked
A half-remembered ghost walkin' round the block
We grabbed a wrench before we knew the name
Fixed the wrong damn thing and called it the same
Call it, call it, before it's fixed
Name what you saw, don't just guess and mix
Say what you want, say how we'll know
Call it before it's fixed, or watch it go
A note in a ticket, close enough to true
A picture on the wall don't show the other view
We built it fast, we built it clean
Solved a problem nobody's ever seen
Call it, call it, before it's fixed
Name what you saw, don't just guess and mix
Say what you want, say how we'll know
Call it before it's fixed, or watch it go
(scorching wah-drenched guitar solo climbing through the turnaround, building out of the tension of an unresolved decision, howling up into the final chorus)
Call it, call it, before it's fixed
Name what you saw, don't just guess and mix
Say what you want, say how we'll know
Call it before it's fixed, or watch it go
Three lines, that's all it takes
Saw it — said it — no more mistakes
Call it, call it, let it stand
A decision's a fix you can hold in your hand
The band
Highway to Prod
Two bars of unaccompanied riff, then the whole pub: open-chord crunch, the snare hard on two and four, and a high rasped howl that spends the chorus flat out at the top of its range. Half late-seventies bar-room stomp, half Sunset Strip sleaze, with a screaming lead break in the middle. Boasts about the reckless thing it did on purpose, and never once sounds sorry about it.
None of these bands are real. Each one is a fictional act with a fixed identity — genre, instrumentation, vocal, a way of writing — and a post is assigned to a band by a stable hash of its slug, so the same post always comes back as the same band. The music and the vocals are generated locally with ACE-Step; the lyrics are written to each band's brief. No musicians, no recordings, no one to credit.
Where the words came from
The lyrics were written from the post Feedback Needs A Decision.
Feedback only accelerates delivery when it is converted into a clear decision someone can test.
